
Roy Merritt, Jr., Board of Assessment Appeals
Roy Merritt, a lifelong Connecticut resident and resident of Burlington since 1996, is a current incumbent on the Board of Assessment Appeals, an office he has held since 2005.
A Professional Engineer licensed in the State of Connecticut, Roy has a particular expertise in bridge design, and has managed bridge design efforts on multi-million dollar public transportation projects in Connecticut and throughout the Northeast.
Roy earned both a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Connecticut, and has been active in both the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers (CSCE) over the past 15 years. He has served as Chairman of the CSCE Legislative Affairs Committee since 2007, and was named a CSCE President’s Award winner in 2009.
Roy has been active in town politics for several years, first becoming a member of the Republican Town Committee in 2003 and serving as that organization’s Vice Chairman from 2005 to 2006. He was a member of the Build the Future Together Political Action Committee in 2003 in support of the Region 10 school renovation project, and has served as a delegate to several state Republican conventions.
Roy and his wife Sandy are the proud parents of two daughters who are currently attending HarBur Middle School.
